Amazon, Kobo Demonstrate Power to Boost Ebook Sales in Brazil

Journalist Raquel Cozer wrote in newspaper Folha de S.Paulo that, after Brazilian Amazon included in its weekly newsletter the title e-Quintana, from Foglio, a digital imprint of publisher Objetiva, 278 ebooks were sold, which accounts 75% of the title’s 388 sales since November. According to Ms Cozer, the low price of US$ 2.38 helped boost sales.

Ms Cozer’s weekly column also announced that Kobo’s sales, after two months of operations, now represent 3% of total sales in volume at the Livraria Cultura bookstore chain. Until November, ebooks accounted for less than 1% of the retailer’s sales.
