Kobo’s Brazilian adventure began to take shape last week with the hiring of Camila Cabete, the company’s first Brazilian staff member, as its new Senior Manager of Publisher Relations.
Ms. Cabete, formerly of Xeriph (Brazil’s first digital book distributor), believes Kobo is ready for a strong push into the Brazilian market, backed by its social media resources, its self-publishing platform and, of course, its e-readers.
Pieter Swinkels, Kobo’s Director of Publisher and Industry Relations, has said that the company should fully arrive in Brazil by the end of this year. Kobo’s new devices will be available at launch and at competitive price points.
Ms. Cabete also writes bi-weekly for PublishNews.
