“Machado” Lit Mag to Launch at Frankfurt to Promote Brazilian Writers Abroad

Machado de Assis

Twenty contemporary Brazilian writers were selected for the first edition of the Machado literary magazine, named after the renowed Brazilian author Machado de Assis. The magazine will be launched at the Frankfurt Book Fair in October. The goal is to promote Brazilian contemporary literature abroad, so texts will be published mainly in English and Spanish. Some of the writers were also included Grantamagazine’s issue of best young Brazilian novelists, such as Luiza Geisler and Carola Saavedra. Felipe Lindoso, publishing consultant and the magazine’s editor wrote recently in PublishNews “I did not expect so many submissions, it indicates that authors, agents and publishers are paying attention to opportunities in the international market, and that is great.”
