Brasilia, the capital city of Brazil which already hosts the traditional Book Bienal, will be the stage of another fair for readers and the publishing industry. The first edition of Bienal Brasil do Livro e da Leitura will take place between the 14th and 23rd of April next year, with 500,000 expected to visit. By comparison, the most recent Bienal in Sao Paulo and Bienal in Rio de Janeiro, the two largest events in the country, attracted 740,000 and 670,000 visitors respectively. Bienal Brasil will occupy 14,000 square meters and will have a budget of R$ 7.5 million (US$ 4 million). Nigerian writer Wole Soyinka, who was awarded with the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1986, will be a featured guest.
